Oklahoma:

Open to Tomorrow

An original work owned and commissioned by the Oklahoma Art in Public Places Program

The Oklahoma landscape, “Oklahoma:  Open to Tomorrow”, reflects the character of our home, heritage, peoples and promise.

Each day we are gifted with a new dawn rising on Oklahoma’s open expansiveness of skies, billowing clouds, sweeping winds, running waters and rolling hills and plains.  This land offers us the space, opportunities and resources to grow and greet each day’s rising sun with new hope and promise.

We are inheritors of this land and heritage.  The bedrock of our legacy of opportunity and freedom has been shaped and purchased by the bones and living spirits of all the early peoples who have come before us through their dreams and struggles.  They have left their handprints on us as we leave ours on the generations to come.  We are a learning people and have learned much from our history.  We have learned that to continue growing in our potential as a people and a state, our roots must remain firmly anchored and deeply rooted in our commitment to justice with its power and purpose being to protect and ensure the freedom, equity and welfare of Oklahoma’s land and people.
